What a wonderful way to help support the YOYA!

Andrew Lewis and his Jubilee Birthday

Andrew’s 50th birthday and the Yeshiva’s 10th anniversary occurring in the same year is a perfect combination!
Andrew has been a strong supporter of Jewish education all of his life and has actively supported YOYA since its inception.  He has been a member of the board for many years and was instrumental in ensuring that the Yeshiva has a permanent home, collects tuition and solicits donors.  In short, Andy’s efforts have been critical to the continued viability of the school.
It is very fitting that we are matching up Andrew’s passion for Torah, the cause of Jewish education and his 50th birthday celebration.  We hope you will join us by taking advantage of one or more of these opportunities:

1)  Honor Andrew on his milestone birthday
2)  Honor YOYA and their decade of achievements
3)  Honor or Memorialize anyone of your choosing

Thank you so much for partnering with us to honor the
Torah and what it stands for.

National Honor Society Chapter at YOYA

Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael is proud to announce that it is the sponsor of a chartered and affiliated chapter of the National Honor Society. NHS ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Students who meet high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character are eligible for membership.

We have adapted the national guidelines of NHS in order to promote a clear picture of the ideal YOY student: A young man who excels in both Torah study and general studies, gives of himself in the spirit of ahavas chesed, possesses refined midos, and exemplifies through action and speech the qualities of a ben Torah.

Standards for selection are established by the national office of NHS and have been revised to meet our local chapter needs. Students are selected by a 5-member Faculty Council, appointed by the Principal, which bestows this honor upon qualified students on behalf of the entire Yeshiva. Students in the 11th or 12th grades are eligible for membership. If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi Kanarek or Mr. Ellis, chapter adviser.
