Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael of Atlanta is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC). The GAC was established in 1904 and is one of the oldest accrediting agencies in the country. Hundreds of private and public schools in Georgia are accredited through the GAC.
Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael of Atlanta is both a Yeshiva and a fully accredited college preparatory high school for boys in grades 9-12. It was established to provide an option for high school boys who want a classical Yeshiva education. In the past, many bright and serious students had to leave Atlanta in search of an all-male high school with a heavy emphasis on Talmudic study, combined with a solid secular curriculum. The Atlanta community met this growing need in September 2002 when the Yeshiva opened with nine boys in the ninth grade. It rapidly expanded in the next three years reaching a student body of 40 boys in grades 9-12. The school quickly acquired a name for itself, attracting students from other states around the country as well.
The mission of the Yeshiva is to foster within each young man a personal relationship with G-d and to instill a love of Torah learning in an environment of sanctity and respect. In addition, middos tovos (fine character development), a sense of communal responsibility and a love of Israel are constantly being cultivated in each young man.
