If he can write the torah with his own hand it is as if he received it from Sinai. If one does not know how to write, he can commission another to write for him. One who corrects a Sefer Torah, even one letter, is as if he wrote it in its entirety. The Lewis family is proud to be commissioning the writing of a sefer Torah to be presented in the spring. Prior to the Jews receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai the Torah writes: “And he (Israel) camped there opposite the mountain” – using the singular, ‘he’, rather than the plural, ‘they’, referring to the Jewish people. The commentators explain that this signifies the unity that was present in the camp at the time – ‘as one man with one heart’ – the unity that was an absolute prerequisite of receiving the Torah. Because Andy’s love for all Jews and the Yeshiva’s dedication to teaching Torah go hand in hand, please join us in completing this special Sefer Torah. Andrew Lewis and his Jubilee Birthday ![]() Andrew has been a strong supporter of Jewish education all of his life and has actively supported YOYA since its inception. He has been a member of the board for many years and was instrumental in ensuring that the Yeshiva has a permanent home, collects tuitions and solicits donors. In short, Andy’s efforts have been critical to the continued viability of the school. It is very fitting that we are matching up Andrew’s passion for Torah, the cause of Jewish education and his 50th birthday celebration. We hope you will join us by taking advantage of one or more of these opportunities: 1. Honor Andrew on his milestone birthday 2. Honor YOYA and their decade of achievements 3. Honor or Memorialize anyone of your choosing Thank you so much for partnering with us to honor the Torah and what it stands for. The Family of Andrew R.
